This is at odds with many recent scholarly and intellectual trends, which work from assumptions that meaning in a text or film is "text-activated" or "reader-activated" and hence produced in a historical vacuum. Staiger first establishes her critical stance in relation to other major textual and film theories, then handles some case studies of how the receptions of particular films were shaped and later evolved. Moschiach Must be Recognized!!!

I have spent thirty-seven years studying about the Messiah, and I was heartened by the prophecy given by Rabbi Kaduri, who had great insight into the Messiah; when I first heard that the Messiah had appeared to him in a vision in a dream. I was excited when I learned that the Messiah introduced Himself to Rabbi Kaduri, giving him His name!
What is amazing about this story is that the Rabbi wrote the Messiah's name in Hebrew inside a saying regarding the Torah, where the first letter of each word in that saying when put together form YEHOSHUA!!! Yeshua is the shortened version of this same name, and it is in English, JESUS!!!
It was wise of him to wish to have this name not read until a year after his passing, because he was too old and frail to suffer through seeing some of the reaction he received from the Chassidim. That name is forbidden and the One to whom it belongs has not been spoken of in Jewish households, barred from discusison for two thousand years, just as the prophets Isaiah and Daniel said would happen to the Messiah, for both say that He would be cut off from His own people and would suffer for their sins and the sins of all of mankind, fulfilling the promise Ha Shem made to Abraham, "In you, all of the families of the earth shall be blessed."
Yeshua of Nazaret has brought the G-d of Israel to the nations, and through His name and Him all men find redemption in G-d, and the Torah is established in their hearts, and a new life is reborn in them, or rather they are born again into a new and living way, adopted by G-d and made joint heirs of the kingdom of G-d through the shed blood of Yeshua Tsidkeinu - Jesus Our Righteousness.
Before He came, there was seperation between Jews and Gentiles - the Jews worshipped the Living G-d and the Goyim or Gentiles (nations) worshipped in ignorance other gods. But since Yeshua appeared precisely as Daniel the prophet prophesied, during the Second Temple Era, He has drawn people from every nation under heaven to worship His Father; the One true G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Through Him, Non-Jews have come near to G-d, and now read and study, and teach from the Hebrew Bible, and Western Civilization has been radically affected by this. No other Jewish religious figure has had this affect on the world, not even Moses.
The Messiah would do this. What's more, the Messiah has come, and the evidence of this is what I have just cited and the rebirth of the nation of Israel - the modern State of Isael! If the Messiah had not come, there would be no Israel today for Him to some day return to in glory. Messiah would come - Moschiach ben Joseph who would die for the nation and draw the nations to G-d, and then the exile for two thousand years, and afterwards, the reestablshment of the Modern State of Israel with Hebrew once again resurrected as language, and Moschiach will return in the sky in great power.
Before this takes place, we are told that Ariel Sharon will die. He is now in a coma and deteriorating every day. When the prophecy was given, Ariel Sharon was in the peak of good health, and active in Israeli politics.
There is much, much more inside this great book. I highly recommend it.

Insightful, thought provoking, educational

The Rabbi who Found Messiah contains a wealth of information about Judaism, Jewish history, insight to the religious Jewish mindset, the relationship and the strain between modern Judaism and its various sects -- and Christianity, Islam's view of Jesus, and relevant biblical prophesy. I saw the movie and read the book. The movie is good but like most movie-book duos, the book is best.

A great deal of information is masterfully weaved in one narrative both in the book and in the movie.

I doubt this book would be of interest to the casual church attendee as deeper things are evaluated than the average passive-church person is used to being challenged to think about. I am sure those who read fast without thought will wonder what the book states. Such a person would get very little from it. Careful readers who have interest in the things this book deals will with be challenged and encouraged.

I am sure no religious Jew who does not know Christ as Savior would find this book of interest. Rather, such a person might be inclined to take offense on the basis of religious differences rather than content.

I got a lot from the book and the movie. I will need to read the book a couple more times to get the most from the embedded value.

I am especially impressed that the author takes great care to make distinctions between absolutes and shades of gray, fact and supposition. However, supposition is based on compelling evidence. I found the compelling evidence fascinating. For me, the compelling evidence and the clarification/implications of it, alone, was worth more than the price of the book and documentary.

Which Y'shua?

Gallups did an alright job writing the book although he really needs to understand that Hebrew is written from right to left. He wrote Yehoshua's name wrong and also missed the second letter vav in His Name. As far as the experience of R. Kaduri, the red flag I see in this book is that Kaduri reports that Y'shua is already in Israel. No, this is not Scriptural and it should cause concern in the reader. Y'shua is at the Right Hand of the Father and He warned us not to believe in any man who says otherwise. Y'shua will return by splitting the sky, and His Feet will touch the Mt. of Olives. Last I looked, I never read any news reports of this happening. Trust me, this event will be televised! The rest of my opinion has been deleted.

New Revised Edition is even better!

Having owned the previous edition, I bought the revised edition just after it came out recently, and certainly its been improved since the last edition. From the aesthetics point of view, the size is larger, but the book is now actually thinner, making it easier to handle and the corners are rounded.
Now there is the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum at the beginning aswell. It really is nice to see that the Missal is being updated with such important documents and the Imprimatur has been renewed.

On Further Review...

I had very high hopes for this missal when I ordered it. I was excited when it arrived, but that quickly gave way to disappointment.

Here's my first impression upon removing it from the box:

* Even though the dimensions are listed, I didn't really have an appreciation for how small and brick-like the form factor is.

* The "flexible" leather binding is the hard, rigid type - not the soft flexible leather I was hoping for. It felt somewhat "cheap" in my hands.

* The font size is very small, especially the Latin on most of the pages. I have several issues with this:
- It's the Latin mass.
- If one language has to be smaller to save space, make it the English; I can figure out hard to read words easier in my native tongue.
- Making the Latin print smaller de-emphasizes it, thereby defeating one of the chief reasons for buying the missal in the first place.

* For someone not familiar with the Extraordinary Form, I immediately thought that my $6.95 Latin Mass Guide was going to be more useful at mass - it gives the format of the mass and instructions on when to kneel, sit, and stand (important for a neophyte), and the font is huge.

* The layout is not very user friendly. I could see "a whole lotta flippin' goin' on" come mass time.

After pondering the above, I decided to send this missal back, so I printed out a return form and boxed it up. A few hours later, I eyed the boxed up missal, and a little voice inside told me I was being too hasty. So I took it out again, sat down, and started flipping through it a second time. I skimmed the table of contents and alphabetical index, flipping to different sections and prayers:

The Angelus.
The Way of the Cross.
The Litany of the Blessed Virgin.
The Eight Beatitudes.
The readings at Passiontide.
The Proper Prefaces.

I sat for nearly three hours, turning page after page, each one bringing a new twinge of joy and a sense of tradition and grace. With all its imperfections, this missal started to grow on me in a hurry. I suppose this is one of those times where beauty is *not* skin deep. I'm keeping this by my bedside, and expect to get a lot of use out of it. Maybe I'll just affix some cut-down post it notes with the kneel/sit/stand instructions where appropriate in the Ordinary section for use at mass.

Hopefully, with the new-found popularity of the Extraordinary Form, the 1962 missal will get a face lift in the near future. Some things I'd like to see:

* A larger form-factor with an easy to handle soft leather cover.
* Kneel/sit/stand instructions in the Ordinary of the Mass section to make it more useful.
* More page jumps (like "psalm readings begin on page ##" or "first gospel readings begin on page ##" )
* Larger print with no de-emphasis of the Latin

But for now, I'm more than happy with this missal. I simply forgot to not judge a book by its cover.

*****Update*****
I've had this missal for 3 years now and it has stood up wonderfully under daily use. The quality of the cover, which I originally thought hard and plastic feeling, has shown itself to be sturdy and quite protective of the pages inside. Within a couple of months most of my issues with the form factor disappeared, except one: the size of the Latin text. That one still bothers me, but everything else about this missal is a winner.

High quality

This new missal published in 2008 is very high quality and should last a long time. It's list of moveable feasts goes out about 60 years, which is about how long I hope to have it. It includes Pope Benedict's motu propio, which is nice. So far, I've most enjoyed its collection of traditional Catholic prayers and devotions.

An important book on the CRPD

An important text on disability rights. Kanter writes clearly and succinctly on the CRPD, it is a welcome introduction to those wishing to understand the CRPD better. Her arguments are cogent and articulate as pertinent Articles of the CRPD are further elaborated, drawing upon a personal and significant experience on the subject matter. References are excellent.
